The Fish Family has arrived!

We welcome Deacon Richard and Laureen Fish to our parish. Laureen will be our new Parish Manager and Dcn. Fish will be teaching music at the Academy as our new Choirmaster. They will both be leading the Youth Group. Their bios follow:

Deacon Fish comes from a family of 3 children and remains close with his sisters and parents. Although originally from New York, his family relocated to Massachusetts in the 1990s. Deacon Fish received his Bachelor of Music from Ithaca College, his Bache- lor of Sacred Theology from St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie, and his Master of Di- vinity from St. Joseph Seminary, Dunwoodie. He also received his M.S. Ed. (Moderate Special Needs Education, 5-12) from Simmons College. He has Massachusetts Profes- sional Licenses in Music and Moderate Special Needs. He was ordained to the Perma- nent Diaconate in 2023. Prior to joining the staff of Sacred Heart, Deacon Fish was the Director of Performing Arts from 1995-2011 at Landmark School in Beverly, Massa- chusetts, as well as the Director of Performing Arts from 2011-2024 at St. John Paul II School in Hyannis, Massachusetts. He has led 27 choir tours both domestically and internationally during his career thus far. Deacon Fish is married to Laureen and they have three children whom they have raised on Cape Cod for the past 13 years, all while living near family, and working at St. John Paul II School together. Deacon Fish is a devoted New York Yankees fan, and loves to work with his hands, building and renovating the family’s home.

Laureen was born and raised in Massachusetts and moved here from Cape Cod. She is one of four girls and Michigan makes the second state she has ever lived in. Lau- reen earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in music from Salem State University. While in attendance she held membership in Delta Mu Delta, an academic honor society for business. Most recently she was the Director of Digital Media for a Catholic school on Cape Cod where she assisted with communica- tions, admissions and advancement. Before that she ran a district in retail that was responsible for the opening, remodeling and set-up of new locations, both of which required many hats and the management of others. Laureen has been married to her husband Richard for 14+ years and they have three children who will be attending Sacred Heart Academy. She loves spending time with her family, biking, baking, lis- tening to podcasts and skiing. Laureen is a Ukrainian Catholic and her favorite saint is St. Zelie Martin, the mother of St. Therese of Lisieux. St. Zelie is quoted as saying, “Oh well, that’s the day so far, and it’s still only noon. If this continues I will be dead by this evening!” Laureen likes this quote because it shows that the saints had bad days too!

Sacred Heart Academy Families, a reminder that Partners in Formation is this evening starting at 7:00pm in the Academy cafeteria. The topic is Sabbath rest, connected to our thoughts on leisure. Dr. Nathan Schmiedicke will be presenting. I hope you can join us!This evening is open to all members of the parish. ... See MoreSee Less
